English text-based PDF documents, up to 20 MB and 50 pages, with supported page geometry. The original remains unchanged and the output retains page count, page dimensions and surrounding content positions.
- Pattern detection for email addresses, supported phone formats, checksum-valid IBANs and selected identifier patterns.
- Context rules for names, organisations and supported address formats. These are suggestions, not a complete entity-recognition system.
- Consistent per-document identity labels, custom exact-text terms, and manual rectangular removal areas.
- Actual PDF redaction, replacement labels, removal of original annotations and links, fresh-document export and local verification.
Choose Another Workflow For These Files.
Scans and image-only pages need OCR. Interactive forms, signed documents, portfolios, layered or repaired PDFs and encrypted documents are rejected. Word files, spreadsheets and image files are not accepted.
Automatic face, signature and image-text detection are not included. Images may contain private information and embedded metadata. Review them manually; a text detector does not sanitise an image’s internal metadata.
Very complex files or unusually large pages may exceed processing limits. An error is a blocked operation, not a protected document.
What “Same Layout” Means.
Selected text is edited at its original position. Surrounding paragraphs, tables, dates and amounts keep their locations. Replacement labels are fitted into the selected area using a standard font and a legibility floor; an export is blocked when a label does not fit.
The exported PDF is a new document. Original annotations, links, form behaviour and accessibility structure are not preserved. A replacement label can have a different font. Review the result visually and with any accessibility tools required for your use.
Pseudonymisation Is Not Anonymity.
Changing Jane Miller to Person A can preserve relationships without disclosing a direct name. Remaining context, rare events, dates, employers, metadata inside images or combinations of facts can still identify someone.
Witalias does not certify anonymisation, decide your lawful basis for sharing, or guarantee regulatory compliance. You remain responsible for the content you share and your obligations to the people described in it.
How To Read Our Checks.
A successful export means the implemented local checks passed for that copy. It does not mean every private detail was detected. Automated regression fixtures are not a general accuracy benchmark or external security audit.
We describe supported capabilities and make limitations visible at the point of use. We do not advertise certification or a measured precision/recall score that has not been established.
